Here at Sugarloaf Park, our facilities and terrain provides the perfect playground for skiers and snowboarders of all ages to hone their skills. From gentle slopes for beginners to smooth, perfectly groomed runs for novices. For those looking to take it up a notch, our professional instructors can create the ideal setting for you to embrace the joy of snow sports while progressively advancing your abilities through exploration and play.
Initiation classes are designed for first-time and early learners who want a safe, confidence-building introduction to skiing or snowboarding. These group lessons focus on the basics of balance, stopping, turning, and speed control using a progressive teaching approach. Participants experience a supportive environment while learning fundamental skills for navigating beginner terrain comfortably. Ages 7+. Up to 7 persons per class. Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays 10:30 am or 1:30 pm.
First experience, learn stopping and speed control.
Improve your speed control and turning. Build confidence from the t-bar or chair on a green slope as you progress.
Refine your turns and speed control in a variation of situations on green slopes. May progress to first blue run.
Start with Initiation 1, then progress to Initiation 2 on the same day to refine your skills!
Improve speed control and turning with Initiation 2, then progress with Initiation 3 on the same day to build confidence and try your first blue run!
Private lessons offer customized one-on-one or small-group instruction for any age or ability level in skiing or snowboarding. Whether you’re trying it for the first time or training to unlock new terrain, private instruction adapts directly to your pace, confidence, and goals. Your instructor focuses exclusively on your progression, comfort, and safety while giving you immediate feedback and support. Thursday – Sunday, and Holidays.

Are you a dynamic person with a passion to transmit your love of skiing to others? If you are an intermediate, parallel skier, this course is for you. The purpose of the course is to assist the candidate in the process of becoming an instructor while gaining experience. The students will continue their technical progression in skiing and will learn the basics in group management, the safe use of the lifts, how to develop a beginner up to intermediate skier. Ages 14 years to adult.
These classes are offered primarily in English. Price includes cost of candidate evaluation for certification by the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance.
The Level 1 Instructor course is an introductory certification, aimed at giving new instructors some basic tools and training to teach beginner and novice snowboarding. At Sugarloaf we offer the best quality programs we can by upholding the training of our staff through our national certification bodies with international standards.
